Praise God for His Mercy! by Crystal Higginbotham

By God forgiving our sin -- which removes the barrier  that kept good things from us, we are restored to the favor of God, who in return bestows good things on us. Think of how we provoke God with sin, and yet He forgives us: how many times have we provoked Him, yet every time He forgives! God is still forgiving, as we are still sinning and repenting. Because of the sin of Adam and Eve, our body finds the depressing consequences, it is subject to many infirmities, and the soul also. It is only through Christ alone that all of our sins are pardon; it is he alone who heals all our infirmities.  ”And the person who finds his sin cured, has a well-grounded assurance that it is forgiven. When God, by the graces and comforts of his Spirit, recovers his people from their decays, and fills them with new life and joy, which is to them an earnest of eternal life and joy, they may then be said to return to the days of their youth, Job 33:25 (Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary).
Due to the hustle and bustle of life, I have been guilty at times of forgetting all that God had done, and continues to do for me. During my prayer time, I have been led to pray Ps. 103 as a reminder of the benefits of being a child of God. Let’s look at some of those benefits that Ps. 103 points out:
  1. Forgiveness of all iniquities. (v.3)
  2. Healing from all diseases. (v.3)
  3. Redeems life from destruction. (v.4)
  4. Crowned with loving-kindness and tender mercies. (v.4)
  5. Satisfies mouth with good things (v.5)
  6. Youth renewed like that of eagles. (v.5)
  7. Mercy of the Lord from everlasting to everlasting (only for those who fear Him) (v. 17)
  8. His righteousness to our children’s’ children (for those who keep His covenant, And to those who remember His commandments to do them) (v.17-18)
Our lives on this earth is short and Ps. 103 compares it to a flower planted in a field where it’s subjected to brutal winds that can remove it from its place. (v. 15-17).  But it is only by continuously mediating on God’s word that we can we have hope, and keep our minds fresh with the blessings God bestows on us every day. He who made all, rules all, and does both by a word of power. He disposes all persons and things to his own glory.

If you are having the same issue as myself, where sometime you let slip the promises and blessings of God, I would urge you to pray Ps. 103 and place your name in those places where it says “our.” It will cause you to “Praise God for His Mercy!
